[MUSIC: Windfall Theme starts]
[SFX: Keys rustle in the door for a little too long. When it finally bursts open, Kendall, Pavlima, and Cas enter.]
KENDALL: Okay, in and out, seriously. It isn't safe for us to be here.
PAVLIMA: As long as my rooms haven't been raided, everything should be right where I left it.
CAS: (impressed) Nice digs.
PAVLIMA: Thanks, I liked it.
CAS: Maybe when all this is over you guys wouldn't mind inviting me around for dinner...
KENDALL: Enough, Cas. Get over here and help me load this pack.
CAS: Right away, your majesty.
[SFX: Cas and Kendall stuff heavy cloth into a pack. Cas grunts as he lifts Pavlima 's heavy sewing machine.]
PAVLIMA: Be careful with that!
CAS: (dropping it in with a thud) I am, I am!
KENDALL: I can't believe I let the two of you talk me into this.
CAS: I, for one, can't wait to have my own robe. We'll be able to go wherever we want.
PAVLIMA: I wouldn't go that far.
[SFX: There's a rustling sound at the lock.
KENDALL: Wait, did you hear that?
[SFX: The three hush as the perspective shifts to follow Wanda and Root.]
WANDA: While I'm enjoying this tour of the city, it's time we rally the troops! Why're you dragging me around to a place as empty as this?
[SFX: Root struggles with the lock.]
ROOT: The time for action will come soon. As long as we can lay low for a week or two and regroup first.
WANDA: Week or two?! No, that will not do!
ROOT: (hissing) Please, keep your voice down! There are some supplies here that might be very useful to us...
[SFX: Root grunts some more and desperately pushes the door, before it suddenly opens and Kendall cocks her gun.]
KENDALL: (gruff voice) Hold it right there! … Wait a minute... is that Root?
ROOT: Run, Your Highness!
[SFX: Root attempts to scramble away, but Cas fires a warning shot into the wall behind him.]
CAS: I wouldn't do that if I were you.
ROOT: Of course, neither would I... I was only kidding.
WANDA: (clears throat) Hello! Yes. It is I. Your glorious Queen Wanda-(stunned silence) No need to be shy. Form an orderly queue and you may all kiss my hand. Except for the small raspy voiced one, he looks rather unpleasant. (more silence) Root, oh dear, are they all this slow on the ground? How sad.
KENDALL: Forgive our silence My Queen, it's just a shock to see you down among us simple folk. Allow me to greet you in the manner you deserve.
[SFX: Kendall abruptly apprehends Wanda.
WANDA: What's happening?! Unhand me!
KENDALL: Keep talking, I dare you. I've always dreamed of shutting you up.
WANDA: OUTRAGE! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.
CAS: Gag her! She's going to bring the Wolves down on us!
WANDA: HOW DARE YOU! INDIGNANT! INDIGNAN-
[SFX: Wanda's protests are muffled by a shred of fabric.]
KENDALL: We need a second here to figure out what the fuck is going on.
ROOT: Yes! Bravo, Kendall! Let's all discuss our present situation in a civilized manner.
CAS: Can we shut him up too?
PAVLIMA: My pleasure.
ROOT: Come on now, surely this is an unnecessary-
[SFX: Pavlima ties the gag in place.]
CAS: (laughing) I can't believe our luck.
KENDALL: You're telling me. Now can we get this over with? These two sure as fuck aren't going to make getting back quietly any easier.
PAVLIMA: At least we can order Root around for once.
CAS: (handing Root the pack) Get moving, Runt, was it? Her majesty. It's time we put you two to work.
[SFX: Wanda and Root both whimper as they're pushed out of Pavlima's apartment. ominous score plays.]
[SFX: Inmates are lead into the mess hall by their usual two guards on a line of chains. a door closes after them and their chains begin to be unshackled one by one.
JOHNSON: Alright, you blue fucks know the drill: 30 minutes to shit and eat, then it's right the fuck back to work!
[SFX: Further down the line, we focus in on Oz who is quietly praying.]
OZ: (whispered) May we find the strength and wisdom of our Queen so we may persevere in the face of this challenging day.
ARGUS: (hushed) Once he unshackles Shem we go. You ready?
OZ: (taking a deep breath) As I'll ever be.
[SFX: A few tense beats, the sounds of inmates shuffling around, chains clinking open.]
ARGUS: Let's go.
[SFX: Argus and Oz walk up to Johnson].
JOHNSON: Inmates, you have limited time to eat- what the fuck do you want?
ARGUS: A lot of things, but we'll start with a little retribution.
[SFX: A shrill whistle signals the beginning of the coup, Johnson yelps in pain as Argus and Oz beat him and tie him up. similar scuffles occur all over the room.]
JOHNSON: HILL! FUCKING HELP ME!
ARGUS: Hill can't help you right now. Oz, Tuck, keep an eye on these two.
[SFX: Argus walks the halls, while inmates are moving tables and chaining doors, making a ruckus.]
ARGUS: Chain those Doors! Tuck, stack those tables up to the windows!
HILL: (calling to him) Please! Inmate 143! This isn't like you! Whatever you think you're doing, stop now before this gets out of hand!
JOHNSON: Listen to Hill, you dumb squiddy fucks! We'll fuck you up! Oh you're gonna pay for this.
[SFX: Oz kicks Johnson in the gut a couple of times, their breath coming out in an "oof".]
JOHNSON: (weakly) That's all you've got? Try again! We'll pull you apart, limb from limb.
HILL: Johnson! Shut the fuck up you're not helping! Please, Inmate 143-
TUCK: -His name is ARGUS: ! It's fucking ARGUS: ! He's a person, he's not a goddamn number.
[SFX: Tuck viciously hits Hill.]
HILL: Okay, okay... I'm sorry.
ARGUS: Alright, get them tight against the doors. Move fast, we don't have a lotta time until they realize what's happening.
HILL: Argus, please.
[SFX: Communicator crackles on.]
VEGAS: Johnson, Hill, update on your 20?
ARGUS: If you're armed, keep it trained directly on the guards, no slips here!
JOHNSON: I'll fucking wreck you, 143!
ARGUS: On second thought, let's knock this one out first-
JOHNSON: I'd like to see you try. I'd like to see you fucking try-
[SFX: Argus smashes Johnson in the temple with the butt of his own gun, the inmates cheer.]
OZ: Alright fearless leader, it's showtime.
[SFX: Oz hands Argus the comm device, which rings us out.]
[SFX: Excited rabble and chatter as Cas, Kendall, Root , Pavlima, and Wanda enter.]
WANDA: (through a gag) It smells ghastly in here. Where have you taken us?
KENDALL: Now's really not the time to be insulting your new home.
[ ]
SHAIMA: Cas, what's going on? Who are these two?
GERT: I heard someone say... but it can't be...
CAS: I have some...unbelievable news.
KENDALL: We somehow managed to capture my old Captain... and the Queen.
SHAIMA: (horrified) No.
PAVLIMA: It's true. I'd know her voice anywhere. It's her.
[SFX: The gathered crowd erupts in madness.]
GERT: Settle! Settle! We'll decide what to do together. But first, we put them somewhere safe. Kendall, would you mind?
KENDALL: My pleasure.
[SFX: Kendall pulls Wanda and Root, struggling, away. We now follow Cas , who pushes through the crowd towards Helina.]
CAS: Excuse me. Excuse me, please. Helina! Helina.
HELINA: What the fuck is happening?
CAS: Are you okay? I know this is a lot to take in.
HELINA: Oh... I'm okay, I'm just... she's really here?
CAS: Yeah, I didn't believe it at first either.
[SFX: After a beat of silence, Helina starts to walk away.]
CAS: Where're you going?!
HELINA: I need some time to wrap my head around this. Her, being here... I just need a minute to myself.
CAS: I'll come with you-
HELINA: -no… I'm fine, I'll be fine, I just need a minute.
CAS: Okay. I'll be down to find you in a bit though, to check in, okay?
HELINA: Yeah, okay. Thanks.
[SFX: A quick kiss. Helina walks out.]
[SFX: The ringing of the communicator comes back.]
VEGAS: Private Johnson I repeat, come in, requesting status check immediately.
ARGUS: I've got six hostages and a list of demands. And you're gonna find me the person who can fulfill them.
VEGAS: C'mon, Johnson. It wasn't funny the first time and it isn't now either.
ARGUS: (a long beat of silence) It seems your people aren't taking me seriously, Hill. Please explain your current predicament to the nice man.
[SFX: Oz rips the gag from Hill's mouth, the comm crackles as he holds it up to their face.]
HILL: Private Hill to tower, the inmates have assumed control of the mess hall. They've taken myself, Private Johnson and 4 other guards hostage, barricaded the doors, and-
[SFX: Argus: snatches the comm device away.]
ARGUS: That'll be enough. Are you reading us tower? Please copy if we've made ourselves clear?
VEGAS: (clearing his throat) Crystal.
ARGUS: Fantastic, is your superior nearby?
[SFX: A few beats of silence as the comm changes hands.]
ANTONY: Lieutenant Commander Antony. Who am I speaking with?
ARGUS: This is Argus, but you'd know me as Inmate 143. You, my friend, have got a hostage situation on your hands.
ANTONY: And what do you want?
ARGUS: I want my fellow inmates and I to walk out of here as free Proximans, that's what.
ANTONY: That's a charming, if, naive goal, but it's not happening.
ARGUS: You think we're just stupid cattle, but we're not blind. Your people are disappearing every day and you can't afford to lose any more.
ANTONY: So you've done your homework. Good for you, but it won't help.
ARGUS: You may think I'm bluffing, but if you don't take me seriously your people won't make it outta here alive.
[SFX: A cheer goes up, inmates chant "for Proxima!"]
ANTONY: Surrender now and you'll minimize the fallout.
ARGUS: I don't think you understand how this works. Tuck, get him up, stand him up against this wall.
[SFX: Johnson is yanked to his feet, his gag ripped off, he's crying now, broken. a gun's cocked, the inmates cheer.]
JOHNSON: Please..... Please! I'm sorry.
[SFX: Hill and the other guards scream against their gags.]
ARGUS: I'm about to cut the hostages in this room down to five, unless you're ready to give me a show of good faith.
ANTONY: Son, this isn't a negotiation. If you kill him, you're going to enter a world of unimaginable pain.
ARGUS: I'd love to see you try.
JOHNSON: Please... don't do this, I'm so sorry.
[SFX: Tuck begins beating Johnson savagely.]
TUCK: Were you sorry when you beat Elvin to death?! Because I remember you laughing!
ARGUS: TUCK! That's enough...step aside.
[SFX: Tuck straightens up, breathing heavy, crying. Then the ringing sound of a gunshot takes us out of the scene.]
[SFX: There's a rabble of crowd noise. a bell clangs.]
GERT: ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT! I know this is unsettling news, but let's calm down and open the floor for discussion. (it quiets down) We'll go around the room. Shaima, what're your thoughts?
SHAIMA: I say we kill her. She's controlled and manipulated us for years, why would we show her mercy?
CAS: I second that!
[SFX: The grounders cheer and the nosebleeds shout.]
GERT: PEOPLE PEOPLE BRING IT DOWN!
WILLEM: Shaima, Cas, I'm surprised at you!
GERT: Yes- Willem?
WILLEM: Not all of us feel that way. Some of us have faith in her leadership-
[SFX: A rabble of "here, here!" from the nosebleeds.]
WILLEM: Many of us have followed her for years and don't believe that she could be any part of this blood-thirsty attack- why else would she be here? She's our Leader! I say we elevate her to her rightful position over us!
LEBOOF: Here Here!! Release her! A loyal contingent of us will tend to her needs! Where's she being kept?!
[SFX: Mixed "boos" and cheers from the warring contingents.]
NOSEBLEED CROWD: (singing) "SAVE OUR GRACIOUS QUEEN, OUR GLORIOUS GOD AND LEADER, LEAD US IN SKYBOUND TOWERS TO BASK IN HER GLOW AND SEE HER"
GERT: SIMMER! Pavlima, I'd love to hear your thoughts here.
PAVLIMA: It'd be foolish to do anything rash. Someone's bound to be looking for her, so she could be a good bargaining chip. I say we keep her locked away until we decide what she's worth.
GERT: Yes-- you over there, in the corner?
ENID: SACRILEGE! She's our Queen and you suggest we insult her by holding her under prisoner?!
PAVLIMA: To be blunt, she's useless to us dead, but her quality of life doesn't concern me.
SHAIMA: Frankly a cell is more than she deserves, but Pav's right.
CAS: She's the reason our parents are dead. How could we let her live?
BENNY: No way, I can't believe we're even thinking about this.
ENID: We've not seen the same fatalities because we were faithful to our glorious queen- Your parents are dead because they were traitors!
WILLEM: ENID! Wanda dammit! Apologize!
CAS: I don't need an apology Willy boy, I'll rip off that tentacle off of her head and stuff it up her-
ENID: -TRY IT! You jumped up grounder trash!
BENNY: (amused) It's your funeral, buddy. I'm speaking from experience.
LEBOOF: -ENID, EVERYONE! Please let us keep this civil. Enid please calm down, this is not helping, you were out of line!
ENID: Fuck you! Where's the Queen!!! Where is she being held?!!
[SFX: The crowd descends into chaos again, people cheer/boo, and scream before the make-shift bell gongs again.]
GERT: PEOPLE PEOPLE!!! WE ARE GETTING NOWHERE WITH THIS! PLEASE STOP YELLING! (the crowd quiets somewhat) We're a growing community, perhaps the time has come for a designated leader to make these types of decisions.
[SFX: Nosebleeds cheer "yes, the queen!"]
BENNY: IT SHOULD BE YOU, GERT!
PAVLIMA: (shouting over the crowd) I HAVE NO FAITH-
[SFX: A round of "shushing" and "let her speak" from the group quietens the crowd down again.]
PAVLIMA: Thank you- I have no faith in a single leader society. We're all feel so disparately. Perhaps a mixed council makes more sense.
[SFX: some "ayes" and grudging murmurs of assent.]
GERT: I think that's a fantastic idea. Do we all agree?
[SFX: Cheers of yes and agreement.]
SHAIMA: That works for me.
WILLEM: Me too.
LEBOOF: Agreed.
CAS: (angry) Whatever, I don't even care anymore.
GERT: That settles it. We vote tomorrow at dawn.
[SFX: Transition music takes us out of the scene.]
[SFX: The inmates are chanting "for Proxima!" Hill yells urgently against their gag.]
ARGUS: Fine, let's hear what they have to say.
HILL: You won't win, with Antony. You can't, because he doesn't give a fuck about us.
ARGUS: I find that hard to believe. He certainly seemed to want you alive.
HILL: Maybe, but at the end of the day, we're still just grunts. Besides, we're getting sick. We're all gonna die here no matter what.
ARGUS: But-
HILL: He's toying with you. This silence isn't him shocked that you had the balls to shoot Johnson. Frankly, he had it coming a long time ago.
[SFX: Argus lets out a deep breath. the communicator crackles on.]
ANTONY: Are you still listening, Inmate 143? I've got a friend who'd like to speak to you.
ARGUS: All my friends are at my side.
[SFX: There's a rustling on the communicator as it's passed.]
ISAAC: Kid, it's me. Please, quit while you're ahead.
ARGUS: Isaac, Wanda dammit, I told you I've got this under control. We've got weapons now. A chance to go home. But, with you out there, I don't think I can take you with me.
ISAAC: -ARGUS: , I know you think you know what you're doing. But there's some folks out here who heartily disagree.
ARGUS: What do you mean?! We have every piece of shit on duty with us.
ISAAC: (resigned) Someone talked, someone always talks.
ARGUS: Why aren't you with me? I could really use your help right about now.
ISAAC: (frustrated) I knew this would happen, kid, I warned you. Look around, ask yourself who's missing. I bet you a hundred credits they're out here, fitted into new robes.
ARGUS: (holding the communicator to his shoulder for a beat, shouting) Tuck, where're Lynx and Biz?
TUCK: I... I haven't seen them.
OZ: Why? What are they saying?
ARGUS: (muttering) Fucking assholes... I need a minute to think.
ISAAC: Stop this now, before you get yourselves killed. You can't win… But if you open those doors and let the rest of those men go unharmed, they'll let everyone live.
[SFX: Antony takes the communicator back. A battering ram begins to pummel the door. The chains hold, but only barely.]
ANTONY: You hear that? We've got a way in. I give it five, maybe ten minutes until this is all over… But I'm a reasonable man. You untie my folks, open these doors, and surrender yourself? Nobody else dies.
ARGUS: You knew we were planning this and you let it happen? You were willing to sacrifice your own people?
ANTONY: Six in exchange for fifteen new wolves? You're damn right I was. That's simple math, squid. Now, this is a one-time deal, I see one raised weapon and you're all dead.
[SFX: The communicator line cuts abruptly. Argus punches the wall, screaming to himself. We can hear the hinges begin to buckle with the battering ram.]
HILL: I told you....
TUCK: Fuck them ARGUS: , we fight our way out. Like we planned.
ARGUS: We've only got six guns, it'll be a bloodbath. If we even try it, every single one of us dies.
TUCK: I'd rather die fighting for something than wither away in here.
[SFX: The inmates chant "for Proxima" again.]
ARGUS: NOBODY'S GOTTA DIE! CALM DOWN!
[SFX: Oz, who has been quiet up until this point, slams his hand on a table three times. Everyone quiets.]
OZ: ARGUS brought us this far, we need to listen to what he has to say.
ARGUS: (Taking in a deep breath) I know this feels like a loss, but we can't fight for anything if we're dead. And with or without me, I know you'll get out. You'll throw down these chains and make your families proud when that day finally comes.
TUCK: What do you mean?
OZ: (resigned) It's him for the rest of us.
TUCK: No, Argus. You've gotta be kidding me, we've gotten this far. I'm not letting you give up now.
ARGUS: (ignoring him)Can you help me untie them, OZ: ? They're storming the doors any minute now.
OZ: Of course.
ARGUS: THE REST OF YOU, PULL DOWN THE BARRICADE AND GO QUIETLY, YOU HEAR ME? DON'T LET THIS ALL BE FOR NOTHING!
[SFX: The inmates grumble, but work together to start pulling down the barricades. At the movement, the battering ram ceases its bombardment. The sound of the rebellion removing their defenses overtakes the scene.]
[SFX: Mila is sitting in her office. There's a knock at the door. Before she can answer, Swift enters.]
SWIFT: Mila. You wanted to speak with me?
MILA: Just who the fuck do you think you are?
SWIFT: I don't follow.
MILA: Cade told me all about your little stunt at the docks.
SWIFT: I was just following up on a hunch.
MILA: I don't know where you get off, telling my people how to do their jobs, but I'm keeping you here as a courtesy. I have no problem throwing you out on the street to fend for yourself.
SWIFT: I understand you have no love for me. You don't even trust me... yet. But I can be very useful. I know what it's like to be a leader, and I have to tell you that Cade doesn't strike me as one and, yet you've given her a lot of responsibility. I understand the men admire her but--
MILA: I trust Cade with my life.
SWIFT: I know you say that, but if that's true then why have you been keeping important information from her?
MILA: (ice) Excuse me?
SWIFT: If I were her I would probably feel a little betrayed if I were to discover this organization's biggest clients are the humans.
MILA: You have no idea what you're talking about.
SWIFT: (cheery) I know quite a bit, actually. I'm surprised she hasn't figured it out yet. But Cade is quick, I'll give her that. It's only a matter of time.
MILA: I don't have to explain myself to you, Swift. You may have been a big deal at one point, but the world has changed since then. Now, you're a nobody. So just run along, and-
SWIFT: You're absolutely right. I'm nothing compared to you, Mila. The rules have changed, everything is different, and I'm the last one to judge this little arrangement you've made for yourself. In fact, I have something to get admit to you… The raid on my place, I'm the one who arranged it. We were running low on provisions and wouldn't be able to stay much longer. I turned my friends into the humans for a free pass.
MILA: Am I supposed to be impressed?
SWIFT: Don't pretend to be superior, here. What you're doing puts my little stunt to shame.
MILA: I'm confused about what's going on here. Is this an extortion?
SWIFT: No, no... Nothing like that. I think you have a great thing going on here. I want in.
MILA: Why would I do that? You have nothing to offer.
SWIFT: That might be true, but I'll tell you something, Cade is surprisingly moral for a criminal. If she finds out what you're up to... Let's just say, I think you need a partner who won't mind looking the other way. Let me be that person for you. I'll run the docks in exchange for a very modest cut. It's a deal you can't afford to pass up. Not when I know what I do.
MILA: (sighing) You're right about Cade, you know. It's been on my mind quite a bit of late. She won't like this at all.
SWIFT: You can't do this alone, Mila.
MILA: Don't breathe a word to her. Do you understand?
SWIFT: Yes, ma'am.
[SFX: Transition musi c.]
[SFX: Root snores as Wanda hums to herself. stumbling footsteps approach, and Wanda quiets as they get closer. the conversation that follows is on the other side of the door.]
BENNY: Hey Helina.
HELINA: (slurring)I need to get in there, Benny.
BENNY: What'd Gert say about it?
HELINA: I don't give a fuck what she said, I need a minute alone with the Queen.
BENNY: Be my guest, I won't stop you. Just make sure you lock back up and hang out until Cas relieves me.
HELINA: That won't be a problem.
[SFX: Benny passes Helina the key and walks away. Helina hiccups as she presses the key into the lock.]
WANDA: Hello? Who's there?
HELINA: (audibly drunk) You're smaller than I thought you'd be.
WANDA: The food hasn't been quite up to snuff since that beastly Timms-
HELINA: -I've dreamt of this day for so long.
WANDA: It's always a delight to meet a loyal subject-
HELINA: -I've thought of what it might feel like to slide my hands around that little pink throat, to squeeze...
[SFX: Helina makes her way into the cell and Wanda stands as she gets closer.]
WANDA: (nervous) Oh my... Root, Root! Wake up! We have a visitor, there's a woman here...
[SFX: Root continues to snore.]
HELINA: It's a terrible feeling to realize no one's coming to help. To scream, and cry, and beg for help, but no one comes.
WANDA: My dear, I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage, what's your name? Please, we can talk. There's no need for violence, start from the beginning.
[SFX: Helina laughs, a dry, unpleasant sound.]
HELINA: Well, to start from the beginning, I'm a traumatized, addiction-riddled husk of who I once was, eager to take or do anything to escape the images, the dreams of my mother, my father, slaughtered in front of me, by your Wolves. You've taken the lives of my family, my community, and then you brought me here alone, as some kind of perverse token of the Reaches. You destroyed my life, and you don't even know my fucking name...
[SFX: Helina grabs a hold of Wanda's front and pulls her close.]
WANDA: Please, don't hurt me.
HELINA: That's exactly what I said when you sent your Wolves to capture us "survivors".
WANDA: (crying) I- I didn't know. I thought I was doing good. Tin Man told me it was the right thing to do, that you all lived in very primitive dwellings and that-
[SFX: Helina rips her sleeve up.]
HELINA: THIS! THIS IS PRIMITIVE! LOOK AT THESE MARKS, LOOK AT THESE SCARS! THIS IS HOW YOUR EVOLVED SOCIETY WELCOMED ME, REEDUCATED ME... with brands, with torture.
[SFX: Helina shakes her. Hard. Wanda whimpers loudly, terrified.]
WANDA: I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I've never left the city. I didn't know what was happening-
HELINA: -You no longer have the luxury of looking the other way Majesty. I'm a living illustration of the atrocities committed in your name.
[SFX: Helina grabs Wanda hard by the wrists, pulls her close and begins to strangle her, Wanda gags and gasps.]
HELINA: I however will do you the courtesy of acknowledging my barbarity as I squeeze the life out of you, because this is what reeducation made me. A fucking monster.
[SFX: Heavy footsteps running down the hallway to the cell.]
CAS: Helina! Let her go.
HELINA: No.
[SFX: A struggle, Cas disentangles Helina and Wanda. Wanda falls to the ground, gasping, whimpering.]
CAS: Fuck... Helina, what were you thinking?
[SFX: The tension broken, Helina now begins to cry.]
CAS: What happens to her is not for us to decide, as much as I hate it.
HELINA: Damnit, Cas. She's gonna get away with it. No one deserves to die more than her, and I hate it.
[SFX: Helina sobs in Cas 's arms, for several beats.]
WANDA: Thank you. Thank you for saving my life.
CAS: I didn't do it for you.
[SFX: Scene ends with Helina's continued weeping as Cas makes reassuring shushing sounds at her.]
[SFX: The door opens and several sets of footsteps enter.]
ANTONY: Are you alright, Private?
HILL: I'm fine, Lieutenant Commander.
ANTONY: Good on you for remaining calm under pressure. Now, who were the organizers of this little party?
HILL: The two at the front of the pack: 143 and 785.
ANTONY: Perfect. Go and get some RNR. You've earned it.
HILL: Thank you, sir.
[SFX: Hill walks out of the room. there's a beat of silence.]
ANTONY: Private Vegas?
VEGAS: Yes, LC?
ANTONY: Bring that pretty chap over here for me. 785, I think it was?
VEGAS: Right away, sir.
ARGUS: Wait a damn minute, I held up my end of the bargain! Won't you do the same?
ANTONY: (cuffing Argus himself) You know, I'd really love to. But here's the thing...
[SFX: Oz is brought forward, struggling.]
ANTONY: How can I not make an example of you when you incited a riot and killed one of my men? It's only fair that I kill one of you too.
ARGUS: (desperate) Please, don't do this. If it's gotta be anyone, take me.
ANTONY: (amused) No, I've got other plans for you.
TUCK: Argus? What's happening?
OZ: Don't worry, boys. We'll be together again someday. FOR PROXIMA!
[SFX: The other inmates chant "for Proxima" in turn as Antony pulls the trigger and Oz collapses to the ground.]
ANTONY: There, there, I'd say we're even, now. Wouldn't you? (beat, to Vegas) Get the rest of them out of my face.
VEGAS: Yes, sir. Right away.
TUCK: (struggling, spitting) YOU THINK KILLING US WILL STOP US? THIS IS ONLY JUST BEGINNING, YOU CAN COUNT ON--
ARGUS: TUCK! STAND THE FUCK DOWN!
[SFX: Another gunshot rings out. Tuck's body collapses. Argus begins to weep, the other inmates have gone silent.]
ANTONY: Anyone else? Because, while I'd prefer not to kill more of you, I can do this all day.
ARGUS: (filled with quiet rage) We've had enough. You've made your point.
ANTONY: Good. I'm glad to hear it. Now wave goodbye to your friends, 143. I'm not sure you'll ever see them again.
[SFX: Antony knocks Argus out with the butt of his gun. Ominous score ends the episode.]
